Privacy policy

This policy covers Swim & Solar at swimandsolar.com. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which buy links get clicked. It records pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device it was, and how people move around the site. Google may set cookies to do this.

We do not use this to identify individuals, and we could not if we wanted to. There is no account system here, no login and no user profiles.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type into it. That arrives as an email and is used to reply to you and nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.

The form records the moment the page loaded, as one of the checks that stops automated spam. It is discarded with the submission.

The calculators

Nothing you type into a calculator is sent anywhere. The arithmetic runs entirely in your browser — there is no server involved in it at all. Your pool volume, your energy rate and your temperature readings never leave the device you typed them on.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, no passwords, no profiles.
• No newsletter and no email list.
• No payment details. Nothing is sold here.
• No advertising networks and no retargeting pixels. The site carries no display advertising.
• No data sold or rented to anybody, ever.

Affiliate links

Commercial links on this site pass through our own /go/ redirect before reaching the retailer, so that a click can be counted and so the destination for a product lives in one place.

Once you arrive at the retailer — Amazon, currently — you are on their site under their privacy policy, not ours. They will typically set a cookie identifying that you arrived from here, which is how the commission is attributed. We never see who you are or what you bought; the reporting we get back is aggregate.

Cookies

Two sources, and no others:

• Google Analytics, for the aggregate usage measurement described above.
• Retailers, once you follow a link to them, for commission attribution.

This site sets no cookies of its own. Browsers can block or clear cookies, and doing so will not break anything here — every page and every calculator works fine without them.

Where your data goes

• Google — analytics data, under Google’s own privacy terms.
• Microsoft — contact form messages travel through Microsoft’s email service to reach us.
• Vercel — the site is hosted there, so their servers handle requests and keep standard access logs.

Nobody else. We do not share, sell or trade anything with anybody.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data an operator holds about you. In our case the honest answer is that we hold almost nothing: analytics is aggregate and not linked to you, and contact form messages are just emails.

If you have written to us and want that message deleted, ask at info@swimandsolar.com and we will delete it.

Children

This site is intended for adults buying pool equipment. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is no mechanism here that would let anyone submit personal information beyond the contact form.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We do not make silent edits — that principle is written down on the editorial policy page and it applies here too.
